Talented for no reason...

As I've been working on my newest project (a music CD) I couldn't help but think about the parable of the talents.  We all know the story; one guy received 5 talents, another received 3 talents and another received only 1. The parable states that the one with only 1 talent hid his talent and told his Master, when confronted, that he hid it.  His reason excuse was I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’*

Personally I do not believe that was the real reason why he hid the talent, it was just an excuse.  I believe that he hid the talent because he looked at the guy with 5 talents and the other with 3 and felt like he didn't have a chance.  In other words instead of using what God had given to him he looked at the other guys and felt like his 1 talent wasn't going to make a difference therefore there was no reason for him to use it.

It's possible!  We still think things like that to this day.  We think we don't sing, dance, photograph, write, dress or whatever like someone else so we neglect the talent or skill that we do have with the intention of making an excuse as to why instead of facing the fact that we feel like what we have is not enough.

But if we realize that God actually does exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask think or imagine then we will also realize that using what He has given us He can multiply it beyond measure.  It's funny how in the process of using one talent we "stumble" upon another talent or gifting that we never knew we had. Why?  Because God is a multiplier.  If you use what you have in your hand He can and will multiply it because He delights in the prosperity of His servants.

The end of the parable shows the Master upset with the servant because He did absolutely nothing with what He was given.  Really if I was the Master I would have been upset too...the Master entrusted the servant with the talent and his lack of action landed him in a terrible place.  So are we talented for no reason or talented for a reason that consists of ourselves, others & the One who created us, the Master?

*The parable can be found in Matthew 25:14-30

What is for me...is for ME!

The only portion of the Bible that will work for you is the portion that you believe.  Although God sees our needs and feels our pain He does not respond to that. [If He did respond to it there wouldn't be any pain in the world.  He does not respond to it due to disobedience of Adam and Eve].

What He does respond to is FAITH. Faith is a direct byproduct of believing.  What is believing?  Believing is having the upmost confidence that God can do what you desire for Him to do.
God is not haphazard.  He did not send Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and leave us the way we came to Him.  Being saved yet engulfed in our mess is not God’s best.

God sent Jesus to redeem us from the curse of the law; to give us emotional and physical health, give us a new life in Christ, give us the mind of Christ, as well as prosper us financially.  God does a full and total work; nothing missing nothing broken.  It may take us some time to get to the blessed life but it has been given to us waiting on our acceptance of it.  Ephesians 1:13-14 says “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…”

Your best life is ahead of you.  All you have to do is believe.  Your belief will lead you to develop your faith.  As your faith grows and you begin to confess or speak out loud what you desire, it will begin to manifest itself in your life.  But it all starts with BELIEVING.

“…and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power…”   Ephesians 1:19.

God wants us to succeed...NO MATTER WHAT!

Our God wants us to succeed. He wants the best for our lives.  The proof of these statements are all over the Bible.  Jesus coming from heaven to earth to die on the cross and rising again is tremendous proof.  But even before then, God has displayed the desire for us to live well.  Look at Adam and Eve for example.  We all know the story, the devil persuaded Eve to bite the apple and Eve persuaded Adam to bite the apple despite God's command.  But the story doesn't end there, an important part of the story is what happened next.

Shortly after eating the apple, God began to look for Adam and Eve in the garden but He could not find them.  When He finally did see them God asked them what happened?  Let us pause... God is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent and honestly speaking He did not need to ask Adam and Eve what happened because He already knew.  But the whole point of God asking the question was for Adam and Eve to speak for themselves and tell Him what they had done.  I believe that God, at that moment, was giving them a second chance.  Only God's knows what would have happened if they would have told Him about the wrong they had done.

The point of the matter is this, God is still handing out second chances to all of us today.  Chance after chance after chance.  Proverbs 24:16 says, "The righteous man may fall seven times and rise again...".  Rise again and again and again.  God wants us to rise, no matter what!  Rise up to the occasion and be all that you can be in Christ!  He has given us the key to life.  Let us use the key and walk through every open door because He will help us get there...NO MATTER WHAT!

3 steps to living out your passion..

What are you here on earth for? What did God have in mind when He created you? These questions and many others are questions that we ask ourselves often. Well I can tell you that He did not create you to have a mediocre life that doesn’t allow you to be fulfilled or unable to live out your passion.

Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are the workmanship in Christ created for good works and those good works were prepared even before we were born. When you live out your passion you are actually doing the world a huge service whereas if you don't live your passion you are doing the world a huge disservice. Your passion will always evolve out of a God given gift or talent that you have.

Whatever it is, let God guide you in living out your passion because it will play a role in your destiny. Here are 3 steps to living out your passion:

1. FOCUS on your strength(s)
Proverbs 18:16 says a man’s gift will make room for him and bring him before great men. We all have weaknesses but if we focus on those we will never give our strengths enough attention to grow.

2. Take ACTION
Start taking steps to help your passion flourish. Proverbs 10:4 states that the hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor. Be diligent to put forth effort to make your dream become a reality.

3. Be ready to LOOK FOOLISH
Turn your passion into a way of life. Along the way people may question you, but who cares? I Corinthians 1:27 tells us that God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise! Sometimes looking foolish is a good sign of great things to come.

Just ask S. Truett Cathy the owner of Chik-fil-a or David Green the owner of Hobby Lobby who started his company in 300 sq ft of retail space, how foolish they looked and how blessed they are living out their passion!

Time to live out your passion...

Your New Season is Here!

Initial release date 1/18/10

It's hard to say whether the most challenging part of our year is coming up with resolutions that we will strive to keep during the year or actually doing the things necessary to keep the resolutions. Resolutions can bring about many different sentiments too. If you are able to achieve your goals, it brings about accomplishment but if you are unable to keep your resolutions it can warrant defeat.
No matter what your resolutions are there are things that you can do to ensure that you have a great year while developing as an individual.

1. Give bad thoughts the boot
Negative thinking or wandering thinking will zap your energy and leave you with a debilitating headache. Take control of your thoughts. Any thought that is negative or does not pertain to your current task either write it down or actively cast the thought out. Even if the thought comes back cast it out again. Train your brain to do what you need it to do. Proverbs 23:7

2. Turn off the TV
Although the TV keeps us abreast of what is happening around us yet it is constantly feeding us information that can send our brains into overload. The worst part is much of the information that is coming from the TV is useless to us because it does not provide spiritual enrichment. Romans 12:2

3. zOOm in
Whoever said that multi-tasking was the best way to get a lot of things done; probably didn't get much done. Research shows that the power of focusing on one task at a time will allow you to be more efficient and effective in completing tasks. Focus on your given task and complete them one at a time. Phillipians 3:13-14

4. Fast & Pray
Let's face it when we are hungry we want to fill our stomach but there are things in life that require us to do without food in order for them to become apparent in our lives. For fasting to be effective you need to study God's word and pray. Daniel 9:3

5. Draw Closer
The difference between you now and you in the next 5 years is going to be based on your ability to grow with God. There is no one who ever got to the place of complete fulfillment in life without the help of God. If you're going to go higher, your relationship with God will have to grow deeper. Psalms 73:28

Faith Alive!

Faith Life Network Newsletter 12.07.09

Don't be discouraged or disheartened by goals that have yet to be accomplished. There are some prayers that take time and some that require fervency. In other words, some situations or needs in our lives do not take any effort to come to pass yet there are other situations that take "faith with works".
James 2:17-18 states that faith without works is dead and the way to see faith is by works. Let's look at the works that, when it accompanies faith, can cause mountains to move and make miracles happen for you.

The four works: pray, plant, proclaim and praise.
1. PRAY - I Thessalonians 5:17 says pray without ceasing or pray diligently. Be willing to pray about a situation more than once, there's no shame in it. When you pray you are lifting up the situation into the heavens to be answered.

2. PLANT- Luke 6:38 says give and it will be given to you. When we sow a orange seed in the ground the time comes when we will be able to eat an orange from the tree that grows. As this happens in the physical it happens in the spirit. When you sow seed (financial) into the ground (ministry) you will be able to eat from the tree that grows. I believe that anything worth having is worth sowing a seed for. And when the seed is sown in faith God knows you are serious towards that thing and shifts things around in you favor!

3. PROCLAIM - Proverbs 18:21 says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. No matter what you are praying for even if you do not see it with your physical eyes only speak out what you want to see. The only thing that should exit your mouth should be positive words that match up with what you are praying and believing God for. Negative words only bring negativity. Talk by faith not by what you are seeing and as you do so you are commanding that thing to come into your life.

4. PRAISE - Hebrews 13:15 says to continually bring the sacrifice of praise to God. It is a sacrifice to praise God in the midst of trouble, lack or confusion. But even when you do not feel like thanking God for everything or singing a song to God, do it! When you do things that are pleasing to God despite your current situation or how you feel God honors that. Thanking God for whatever it is you are praying for before it happens shows God that you know that all things are possible with Him and through Him.

My friend, know that there is nothing too hard for God and that all things are possible. 2010 is a new year that can be different than 2009 if you take the necessary steps.
God is ready to do things that you have only dreamed of.

lovin' life

Between potty training, starting a new business, maintaining and revamping our current business, my doctorate program and writing my next book I've been UBER busy. Sleepless nights because my son (8 months old) has decided that his favorite time to eat is at 3am along with my mind still running from what I did or didn't complete during the day has taken me a bit out of my comfort zone.

So when I found out that a friend of mine's mother passed during her battle with cancer, I was beyond shocked. The funeral service took place on a Monday morning, which is the busiest day of the week but I went. I sat in the service and couldn't fathom what my friend could be thinking, going through, feeling or anything. My mind was thinking of how I would cope with losing my mom or anyone who was remotely close to me. As we drove to the grave site it began to rain outside and on my face from my own tears.

Life moves so fast we all have the option of going with the flow, falling behind the flow or moving faster than the flow (I'm sure you know I try to move faster than the flow). But death happens and makes you think why you are you moving so fast in the first place? Really, it helps me to re-prioritize my life and rearrange certain things.

I think we all take breathing and experiencing and hurt and joy and disappointment for granted. I'm happy that I even get to experience those things because there will be a time when I won't. I'm lovin' life and thanking God for each day.

Trick or Treat..should we or shouldn't we?

The observed day of Halloween is generally observed on the evening of October 31 throughout most of North America and in some areas of Western Europe. As it quickly approaches this year, our concern is that many families, whether through innocence or a lack of understanding, will participate in this holiday in a way that is not beneficial to them. The Bible tells us that we are engaged in a spiritual battle between good and evil; between the spiritual forces of God and Satan.

Although many view Halloween as merely a fun time to put on costumes and exchange candy, in reality this holiday has deep spiritual roots. At its core, Halloween is a celebration that focuses on the forces of darkness. It was originally a pagan festival of the dead. The festivities of Halloween are based on folk-beliefs about supernatural forces and spirits of the dead. These beliefs are often depicted through the various symbols associated with Halloween, and most of these directly relate to death in some shape or manner. Traditional Halloween decorations feature imagery associated with supernatural beings such as witches, werewolves, vampires and ghosts. They also include images which symbolize bad omens—such as black cats, bats and spiders.

The origins of Halloween can be traced back to the ancient religious practices of the Druids (Celtic priests). The Druids were members of a pagan order spread throughout Britain, Ireland and Gaul. They generally performed ritual blood sacrifices with animals but often with humans as well. In fact, the word bonfire is derived from the words “bone” and “fire” because the Druids would pile bones of sacrificed animals or humans in a field filled with timber and set them ablaze. To the Celts, bonfires represented the sun and could be used by Druids to aid in their fight against the dark powers. They believed their sacrifices would placate the gods, thus warding off evil spirits and ensuring that the sun would return after winter.

The Celts also believed that the eve of their new year, which they called Samhain, was the supreme night of demonic jubilation. Spirits of the dead would rise out of their graves and wander the countryside trying to return to homes where they formerly lived. Frightened villagers would try to appease these wandering spirits by offering them gifts of fruit and nuts. This is how the present day practice of "trick-or-treat" came into being.

Eventually Christianity began spreading rapidly throughout Europe, and rather than abolishing the pagan customs of Halloween, people tried to incorporate ideas into it which reflected a Christian worldview. This is why Halloween has evolved into such a confusing mixture of traditions from both the Christian and pagan cultures. Take the jack-o-lantern for example. A jack-o-lantern is a pumpkin carved with faces representing demons and illuminated from within. It is considered to be the “festival light” of Halloween because it was the ancient symbol of a damned soul and people believed that jack-o-lanterns could frighten away evil spirits. Other popular symbols of Halloween like bats, owls and other nocturnal animals were originally feared because people believed these creatures could communicate with the spirits of the dead. People during the Middle Ages also believed that witches could turn themselves into black cats. Whenever a black cat was spotted, people automatically assumed it was a witch in disguise.

When you take a close look at the symbols that make up Halloween, it is impossible to deny their evil nature since they primarily consist of witches, monsters, ogres, vampires, ghosts, ghouls, goblins and demons. In fact, Halloween is widely recognized as the ultimate day of celebration for Satanists. Those who oppose Christianity have been known to organize on this day to observe satanic rituals, cast spells, come against churches and families, perform sacrilegious acts and even offer blood sacrifices to Satan. In light of these facts, believers have a responsibility to carefully consider our participation in this holiday. God’s Word encourages us to avoid participating in pagan activities and incorporating religious pagan practices in worship (see Leviticus 18:24-30 and Deuteronomy 18:9). In Ephesians Paul warns followers of Christ to “Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them” (Ephesians 5:11). We need to be cautious about associating with works of darkness, because we don’t live in darkness anymore. As believers we now live in the light through our faith in Jesus.

Some parents don’t see a problem with allowing their children to celebrate Halloween. These parents celebrated it themselves when they were young and believe Halloween is both completely harmless and fun. Understand that God is not opposed to fun. He’s all about it, in fact, and so are we. However, Halloween is deeply rooted in evil. When we participate in Halloween, we can often send a subtle message to others that there’s no need to seriously consider the spirit realm. Even the types of costumes in which we dress our children can have an effect on our witness for Christ. Worse still, our participation can send a message to our children that witchcraft, demonic practices, Satanism and the occult are all harmless, entertaining and fun. If you have a desire to celebrate the season, we suggest celebrating it through an event not associated with Halloween. Our participation in any kind of celebration should always emphasize the light of Christ. We must be proactive in our faith and resist all the works of the enemy. The Bible tells you to "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8).

Here are some suggestions on steps you can take with your family:

  • Do some personal research on Halloween.
  • Pray and ask God to show you what He wants you to do this Halloween.
  • Consider attending a Fall Festival at your local church.
  • Start a new tradition, rooted in God and family, on Halloween.

No room for two

I love this song by Mercy me. Basically the song is a musical representation of Philipians 1:21, Colossians 1:27 and many other scriptures that speak to us on letting go of the "flesh" and grabbing a hold of Christ for the life He has given to us as Christians.
Bye bye old me, hello Christ through me!

i want a "DO OVER"

original creation date: 01.04.08

There's this new comedy by the name of Samantha Who? And they say that's it's the #1 comedy on TV right now. As a viewer of the show I'm not surprised, Samantha was granted what I call a "DO OVER" in life. She's been able to start her life all over again…kinda; after a freak accident she has amnesia & doesn't remember the type of person she used to be which was mean, manipulative and shallow. If anyone got in her way of something she wanted she would make a way to get it at the expense & sacrifice of others. Now that she has amnesia and doesn't remember who she used to be she now acts the way she really is on the inside which is a considerate, goofy and loving person.

Every now and again she goes somewhere or meets someone who remembers her "bad deeds" and they hold her to it even though she doesn't remember and she's turned over a new leaf. Like the time she tried to go see a hockey game and didn't know she was banned from the arena because of the time she went in a wheelchair just to get a front row seat. Nevertheless Samantha tries her best to live her life anew with her past behind her with a clean slate, pushing forward to enjoy life as she can create it.

This reminds me of what Jesus does for people (and has done for me). That no matter what we did before or how we treated other people or even ourselves, when we accept Him into our life we are able to have a clean slate in life and are granted a DO OVER! Other people or even you may remember what you did or how you used to be but in Christ you are a brand new person and get to start life all over again. The best part about it is that you have the ability to recreate and reinvent yourself. Any insecurities, generational issues, former hurts and inadequacies are a thing of the past.

No wonder the show is so popular…who wouldn't want a DO OVER in life?!
The truth of the matter is Jesus is still doing the same thing He was doing when He was on the earth, granting DO OVERS. Why don't you let Jesus grant you a DO OVER right now?
Prayer: Jesus I believe You are the Son of God and that You died and was buried and rose again for me. Come into my heart, I make You my Lord & Savior. Forgive me of all my sin and wipe away my shame give me a new life in You and for You. Amen!

A simple prayer (when you believe with your heart) can grant You a DO OVER in life, make the best of it. Lightning may not have struck and you may not feel any different on the outside but on the inside you're a new creation…make your outside new too! Love God and serve Him with the help of the Holy Spirit and I promise you life will never be the same. (II Corinthians 5:7, Acts 1:8, Romans 12:2, Hebrews 13:8 NIV)

Song bird, called to ministry

original post date: 05.04.08

So what had happened was I ended up doing the praise and worship today at church and I have to say it went pretty well…despite the fact that I carried Zoe the whole time b/c she wouldn't stop fussing and eventually she feel asleep, still holding her mind you. I may not be a Yolanda Adams but I can do a little somethin' somethin' I actually remember back in the day I used to sing with my sister watching Mariah Carey videos (even though we knew we weren't supposed to be watching MTV) we hit them notes too! She did better than I did but I sounded good. My immediate younger sister couldn't sing a lick and so we were going to be the next TLC. Strep throat hit and lasted a cool 3 months…needless to say I NEVER tried to hit a high note like MC again. When I did try singing again "friends" told me I should just give up singing along with other things (you know how cruel kids can be).

I recently heard a message preached by someone who was saying that when God calls you into ministry you just better go, don't disobey, even if you don't like it you better just go ahead. Admittedly, I believed this type of message that when God calls you it's going to be something dreadful and you won't like it because if you don't He'll strike you down, blah, blah, blah.

NOTHING could be farther from the truth! Why in the world would God call someone into a ministry that He knows good and well we won't like and expect us to do well at something we can 't stand doing?! That's like telling us to go to a job we can't stand everyday and expecting us to be the top performer in the company. It can't happen! FoR tHe ReCoRd God is not cruel and any ministry that He has set up for you is just that FOR YOU! He will cater it to your personality, the way you function, your likes and dislikes, it'll all be catered to the true YoU…after all He gave them to you in the first place!

Now will stepping into ministry require some changes? Sure. Maybe more discipline, familiarizing ourselves with the Bible, minding the things we do because others are watching, finding other ways of having fun that do not include going to the club and getting pissy-fall out drunk (it's just not cute, really). And at the end of the day we're able to find our purpose in life, become whole & not wait on anyone else to make us happy other than Jesus, enjoy life no matter how bad the economy gets and know that when it's all said and done you eventually helped someone else get a grasp on their life by airing your dirty laundry. That's ministry.

I thought back then that I would never sing or be in the limelight or do anything that would draw attention to myself but look at what God can do. I don't mean to brag but I will say that I love my life and am grateful that despite it all God didn't change His mind about His plan for me.

the #1 matchmaker

I recently tuned into the show Millionaire Matchmaker, which has provided a bit of entertainment, but really spurred a series of questions within me. Before I get to the questions, the show is based on a woman who is a matchmaker for millionaires but many of the millionaires only go on a couple of dates and move on to the next young woman in line. The millionaires seem to never be satisfied with the young woman they are matched with and yet can't figure out why they are still single. Aside from the fact that some of the millionaires need a bit of home training, the standards they place on the young women is outrageous.

I'm more than sure that it's not only the millionaires on the show who place outrageous & unattainable standards on their potential mate but everyday single people. So the questions begin, could it be that society has fed us a bunch of garbage telling us that we have to look a certain way, dress a certain way, drive x-type car, keeps up with the Jones', knows how to "work it" when in fact the true qualities of a man or woman which would create the ideal marriage are things that society left behind 20 years ago? Being ambitious, able to provide, a spiritual leader, able to love and care for those around him/her, being respectful are all qualities that, back in the day, weighed much heavier than if someone is cute or not.

Of course we don't want someone we can't take home and show off to family and friends....but at what cost? Someone once said that good looks fade but dumb doesn't which could be interpreted as the person can be beautiful beyond compare but what they lack as an individual may not be replaceable and could possibly be the difference between for "better or worse" and "irreconcilable differences".

For every person that wants to be married, I believe that God has a special person that will be compatible with them like a hand in glove. Case and point I Samuel 16:7, God had designated the next king over Israel and while everyone thought it was going to be the best looking guy in town or the strongest guy around they were wrong. God told them not to look for the guy's appearance or his physical stature because He doesn't see as man sees because man looks at the outer appearance but God looks at the heart.

Wow. So could it actually be that we have this thing all wrong and although it seems "old school" being old school in our matchmaking will yield the best results? Or should we just leave it alone occupy ourselves with other things that will help us to grow as individuals and let God do the matchmaking??

God-mail

They are always in my iNBoX. I receive at least 2 everyday: God mail. At first I used to send them as soon as I read them, then I would delete them, then I would feel bad if I deleted them: God-mail. Uhhhh!

We know you love Jesus & you're not ashamed and if I'm not ashamed then I'll send it to others. Okay, but you know what really shows me that a person is not ashamed is through their behavior. If you say you love God then to me when you love someone you'll act in ways that displays that love to others. So much so that I or anyone else watching you doesn't have to ask if you love God we can just tell. I think there's a myth out there that says as long as I love God and tell a couple of others then I can act in any way I want to…..as appropriately noted a myth. If someone tells me they love me I expect them to act a different way towards me then they would to someone else. That person wouldn't have to say, "Do you know that I love her?" Someone could just tell by the way we interact.

Sad that God loves us so much by protecting us, giving us promises to take our lives higher despite the circumstances, answering our deal making prayers even when He knows we won't keep our end of the bargain & yet we find it difficult to act in a way that would show we love Him i.e. by respecting ourselves, showing love to others even if they hate us, washing our mouths out with soap, "keeping" ourselves for our husband or wife.

Maybe it's just easier to send an email that says we love Him than living our lives to show that we do. Either way God-mail goes out all the time and most times you have to forward them to prove yourself…
Personally speaking, I love God but I primarily choose to 'say it' in a different way that doesn't depend on me sending out God-mail every two seconds just to prove to the person that sent it to me and everyone else on in my email contacts that Jesus is my homeboy. Am I perfect? Nah. Do I do things that God would deem 'questionable'? I'm sure I do.

On the other hand God-mail could help get the message out a lot quicker and in a way that others in the Bible wished were available when they were alive. Alright change of plans, maybe I'll start sending out the God-mails, but not to prove anything to anyone but rather to help someone out during a hard time. They may not want to talk, or even know the right words to say to communicate how they feel but at least they can open an email and read about God's love and I'll be the one who sent it.

the bad 11 letter word

orginal creation date 01.01.08

Maybe its just me…maybe not but rather every single person that has lived in the United States for more than 6 months of their life (except for the Omish and babies),
CONVENIENCE
Ohhhh. Very scary word. It's the same word that allows us to pay $6.65 with tax at Mr. Big-Name-Fast-Food restaurant for a chicken sandwich that we can make ourselves at home. But instead of the homemade taste which is better than Mr. Big-Name-Fast-Food restaurant we pay $6.65 with tax almost everyday for something that causes our omentum (the stuff that causes a pot belly) to spread like butter on toast.

Convenience. I've come to realize that it's become a part of us on my recent traveling journey to Spain. Upon my arrival in Paris (our transit destination), I realized that 'Auntie Flow' decided to arrive ahead of schedule. I was prepared in the sense that I had packed my suitcase expecting her presence…but it was the suitcase that was on the plane not my carryon!

Needless-to-say I trekked up and down that endless French airport to find a vendor to alleviate me of the arrival of my visitor to no avail. I even asked a young woman to point me in the direction of where to the much needed purchase and she looked at me as if she had no clue what I was talking about…as if she had no idea who Aunt Flow is! My legs were burning (b/c I'm out of shape of course), my face was flushed and I still didn't have the goods I was searching for and I was out of breath by the time I reached my husband again. He looks at me & says 'Babe, we're not in America anymore.' Thank you for the keen observation…and realized that I wasn't in America.

America home of the brave, land of the convenient, able to get anything, at any time, any where had brain washed me into thinking that everywhere else is the same. Is this a bad thing? Hadn't figured it out yet. It has occurred to me that Americans may be the most out of touch people on the earth. Everything we need is conveniently packaged, prepared and arranged for us. If you're willing to spend the money then have not fear what you want is here.

Then again is it wrong to want the 'essentials' readily available when you need it? If our (ladies) expected visitor comes ahead of time, should we not have the option of spur of the moment protection?!? Who knows. One thing I do know is if I need one and have to pay $6.56 for a pack of 3 so be it…in this case convenience isn't such a bad word.
