The secret to controlling your day

If you are unable to control your day, you will be unable to control your life.

We all know it’s actually impossible to orchestrate the inner workings of your day.  Side balls, curve balls and atomic bombs can be thrown at you at any moment taking you from a place of peace to a place of frustration and unproductive. Despite what we know could happen there is a still a way to maintain yourself and keep your day focused on the course it should go.

The first thing you do in the morning will set the tone of your day. King David said, early in the morning will I seek Thee. Don't look lightly on that statement; King David was very busy man; he was king over a vast kingdom, he defeated many of Israel's enemies in war and still had time to be called a man after Gods own heart. He too was busy. But yet he found time to seek after God.  Before he went into any battle he would pray and then write and sing songs of God’s goodness and faithfulness that we still refer to today as the book of Psalms.

You can never be too busy to take control of your life.  Ultimately the way to control your day is to spend time with the One who created the day.  The way to control your day is to spend time with God. Here are some simple steps you can take to gain control of your day and thus fulfill your purpose on the earth.

Wake up 45 minutes early:

1.    Start with 15 minutes of prayer.
I know everyone always says an hour but I just want you to get STARTED. Once you begin to see the tremendous results 15 minutes brings you'll easily transition to 1 hour plus!

During this time don't complain just speak the Word of God over your life and situations. Do that for 10 minutes then listen for 5 minutes for God to give you peace & solutions.

2.    Read your Bible for the next 15 minutes.
I believe this is a great practice right after prayer because often times God will use the scripture to give you clarity, insight and give you solutions to problems. It's an easy thing to do and even easier when you use YouVersion bible app "1 year bible".

      3. Use another 15 minutes to make declarations and affirmations over your life.
If you have vision boards this is the time to meditate on them and see your life taking shape. (In my Unleashing the Greatness Within Kit I teach you how to do this as well as get specific about the important sectors of your life that once structured will lead to breakthough).

Take the last 2-3 minutes of this time to visualize and construct your day with your mouth.  Speak out, “Today is going to be a productive and fruitful day.  All money owed to me is being given to me today.  Everything is working out in my favor.  I have favor in all matters and victory is my portion.”  When you speak words like that the heavens will align with you!

One important note: You’ll notice that sometimes during the course of these actions you’ll want to write out goals that you need to achieve for the day; you’ll receive reminders of things to do; you’ll get the names of people you need to call etc. WRITE IT DOWN.  Always have a note pad by your side when you’re praying & meditating.  When God speaks you’ll want to be able to document His words to you quickly!

Prophetic fire fall down!!!

Starting Wednesday evening January 15 at 7pm through January 19th the Prophetic Fire Conference will be taking place at Elevate Church! It's the first conference of the new year of 2014 and we are expecting God to move in a phenomenal way.

I'll admit the prophetic has a special place in my heart. Aside from the fact that we're told in 1 Corinthians 14:39 to desire earnestly to prophecy; I received a prophecy over a decade ago that is still affecting my life to this day so I view the prophetic is a glorious gift given to us by God.

Don't miss a mighty move of God and an event that will affect YOUR life in a blessed way for many years to come!

It's a five day event...see you soon! And if you're coming out due to this blog post let me know when I see you.

The SHIFT has begun...

Ever since the 2013 Glamour Girl Women's Conference with the theme titled 'Graced for Exploits', the underlying understanding of grace has been lingering within me.

Many people characterize grace by phrases like "oh by the grace of God Ill be there" or "That was a close call, thank God for grace". They're true statements yet leave so much out from the power Gods grace.

I believe grace is accurately defined as Gods divine ability through your ability, unmerited favor and blessings. It is by faith through grace we are saved so that no man can boast.
Grace gives you the privileged of doing life with God and flowing with Him in such a way that makes your life effortless!

LIFE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SO HARD! God doesn't want it that way. Will there be trials? Sure but Jesus overcame them for us already! Again effortless living. Working in the grace of God in your life will do several things:

1 guide your life
2 give you clarity
3 walk closer & more intimately with God
4 push out the funny stuff (no kooky Christian stuff just the purity of God)
5 filter through your voice, the enemy's voice and Gods voice (who's voice is prevalent?)
6 give you an overflowing life

The how to is the part you have to understand. As simple as it is it's yet the most challenging thing we're asked to do: pay attention. When God is expressing His grace through you He's not going to blow a whistle at you or put up a billboard that says "GRACE RIGHT HERE". No. You will know by the ebbs and flows, the rhythm by which your life is moving. But if you're not paying attention you'll keep enforcing what you think ought to be happening when there's no grace for it.

The good life in God. The great life is to walk with God.
The supernatural life is to live in grace.
2014 is the year of exceeding grace!

5 ways to get RE-energized

Lets face it, between work, kids, ministry, business, trying to maintain a social life and any other commitments we have life can become overwhelming and mundane.  Here a five things you can do to become RE-energized so that you don't become worn out or burn out.

1. Reorganize your personal space. Whether it's your car, your closet or your office; the law of order is put into effect when you begin to organize. Order breeds efficiency, productivity and creativity. Move some things around to begin to produce positive results.

2. Change your routine. Slight boredom can set in when you keep doing the same thing over and over again. Try taking a new route to work (it may get you to work faster), polish your nails a new color, or order a different meal at your favorite restaurant. The change will do you good.

3. Go some place new. Before God can expand your horizons you must be exposed to new things and bigger experiences. The sites Livingsocial and Groupon have made it more affordable to experience new places at a great price.  Experience a vacation outside of your city or state, spend the night at a luxe hotel and order room service or go to the local museum and view history outside of a book.

4. Read a book. Simple right? Yet this simple practice can ignite fires within you that cannot be quenched until you begin to live a fulfilling life.
Books give you an opportunity to live outside of yourself and love vicariously through others. When reading autobiographies & self help books, you can glean from the lifetime experience of others and avoid obstacles in your own life that you would otherwise have no understanding of.

5. Attend empowering conferences. The Glamour G.I.R.L Women's conference is around the corner (October 10-12th) in Atlanta Georgia. It is a conference like no other full of inspiration and empowerment to take you to the next level. After implementing the first 4 ways to RE-energize the next step is to register and attend the Glamour G.I.R.L Women's conference. Click here to register now

You can't be in an environment filled with inspiration, the presence of God and other motivating ladies and not get something good out of it. I guarantee that after attending you will be changed for the better and you will get answers from heaven for your most pressing situations.

Registration is no charge. Make a decision to go to the next level today!  Get RE-energized.

Melt that belly fat...4 tips for QUICK results!

Summer is here yet you're still trying to figure out a way to get rid of some stubborn fat. No problem hautemama (that's what I call myself) is here! I call myself the way I see myself and I see myself as a haute mama ...which leads me to my quick fat busting secrets:

1. See yourself smaller.

You cannot pay attention to the lying vanities or situation that is in front of you. What size do you want to be? How would you like to feel when walking up the stairs? Speak those positive and affirming words over yourself and you will see a shift in your mindset. Whatever your mind sees will be what you experience.

2. Go on a fast.

Now real fasting involves prayer and spending one with God but this fast is to refrain from eating ANY kind of sugary foods. That includes putting sugar in your coffee. Sugar packs on pounds especially soda pop. Refrain from it for 21 days and you'll see a massive difference! (Why 21 days? Check out my book 21 Laws that Rule the World where I talk about the power of habit and how that law can help you look better, feel better and achieve great things in life).

3. Jump rope.

They are inexpensive. They are simple. And they work! While you're watching your favorite hour long show (for example Scandal) during the commercials get up an begin to jump rope. Most commercial breaks during a 60 minute program is a total of 30 minutes. If you jump rope every time you see a commercial you are essentially doing a 30 minute workout! Do that 3-4 times a week and see that beach body emerge.

4. Drink plenty of [lemon] water.

I understand that most people don't drink water because it has no taste but when you squeeze some lemon or lime juice into the water it makes it tasty. Water flushes out toxins and other unnecessary particles within your system. And with all the fat burning you'll need something to cool you down.

Greatness Tip:
As much as I know these fat busting secrets will help you for quick results I must be honest; taking care of your temple is a year around job. You must decide I make a lifestyle change in order to achieve the true results you want.  Your objective should be to have a beach body YEAR ROUND!

Use Jesus Body Workout DVD to help you obtain that goal. Included with the DVD are recipes and tips that you can use over and over again.

We only have one body while we're here on the earth let's take care of it so it will last and take care of us.

Grace for the New Year

If there is anything that you believe God wants you to let go of or remove from your life He will give you the grace to do it.  The difference between you and those who do not embraced the love of God is you have the grace of God which is sufficient for you to move forward (II Corinthians 12:9).

The apostle Paul, as great and influential as his life was struggled with some things that he repeatedly asked (probably even begged) God to remove for him.  God's answer for him was "my grace is sufficient for you".  In other words, I've heard and acknowledged your request Paul yet I will not take it away from you rather I will supply with the grace that you need to move forward.  As great as Paul was he still needed to tap into the grace of God that was supplied for him to get through his "thorn" or issue that he had.

There's always those things in our lives that we feel if God would just take it out of our lives things would automatically get better.  But there are some things in which if He did reach down and pluck it out for us it would make us feel great; unfortunately we would never have the ability to know the all encompassing grace that is needed for our everyday walk and ascension with Christ.

As for resolutions, goals, to do's and not to do's on your list for 2012 remember that God's grace is sufficient for you to accomplish your desires and His love for you is more than enough to carry you through the year The best part about it all is the grace that I am referring to is already supplied for you, all you have to do is receive it and use it. John 14 says that the Holy Spirit is our Helper, Comforter, Guide and Teacher and He can teach you how to use that grace to accomplish and fulfill your needs.

What the Spirit is saying about 2012...

2012 will be a year full of testimonies and awe inspiring moves of God! At Elevate Church we are calling it the Year of THE Blessing.
One thing I know for sure about God is He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His people and He is most pleased by faith (Hebrews 11:1).
This year to really see the fullness of Gods manifested blessing it is going to require us to hear from God like never before.  We will have to know His voice the same way we know the voice of our siblings or our own children.  When God speaks and He gives you an instruction then you obey and fulfill that instruction He is obligated to manifest His blessing upon you.
Look a Abraham. He was living with his family worshipping idols and never had a taste of God in his life.  All of a sudden he was instructed by this God he never knew to get up and move from his kin's house elsewhere.  That took some serious faith on the part of Abraham.  Through his display of obedience to the instruction, God took it upon Himself to bless Abraham so much that he and his nephew could no longer live in the same proximity!
2012 holds blessings that enlarge our territory and expand our coast....but our hearing from the voice of God must be sharp.
The best way to sharpen our ears to hear is to...
Read the Word

The bible says that the Word of God is the very voice of God so therefore the more of the Word we know the more of God we know and the more in tune to His voice we will be!
Speak in tongues, frequently

The apostle Paul said "I thank my God that I speak in tongues more than you all." He knew that as he spoke in tongues he was charged up in the spirit and therefore better able to operate by the spirit!
Meditate on the Word
15 minutes everyday dedicated to meditating on the word of God has produced more results in my life than any amount of "hard work" I have done on my own.  God told Joshua to meditate on the Word day and night so that he would have good success.  Good success comes from God hence meditating on His Word can only produce what He is, a success.

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches" Revelation 2:29

You got it...work it!

We serve a living God who knows our deepest fears and hurts yet our joys and pleasures. Though He is a big God He is involved in the intricacies of our lives and desires to be apart of them.

He is the One who can see the big picture of our lives when all we can see are the moments that we are living in.  Sometimes what is included in the moments of our lives are not the desires that we hold in our hearts but we must know that if we work the Word, the Word will work for YOU!

John 1:1 says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, and the Word was God. Christianity is not the lazy man's belief.  Why?  Because you must take the word and work the word in order for it to produce what it knows how to produce...Itself.  We work the Word by meditating on it, making confessions & declarations with it and placing our name within the Word.  The Word is God so the Word is alive and has no choice but to produce life.  The more of the Word we have in ourselves the more of God we have in ourselves.

So when our circumstance or our situation doesn't look the way we believe it should look ...rise up and take the word that is living and work it!!  The Word was here before we were born and the Word will be here after we leave, the Word will remain forever.  It is living and gives us the power, authority and ability to create our world.  Stand tall, be encouraged and know that the Word will work for you when you work it!

Remember that though weeping may endure for a night, joy come in the morning....and I declare to you that your morning has arrived!!

The Miracle of Meditation

In Joshua 1:8 God told Joshua to meditate on the book of the law day and night so that he would make his way prosperous and have good success.  Now that is exciting.  What’s even more exciting is that as believers today we are not limited to the book of the law (i.e. the Old Testament) but we are expanded by the book of grace (i.e. the New Testament).  There is more that we can gain from grace than we ever can from the law!

Through the book of grace all that we can do is embedded in who we are in Christ.  We are His workmanship and He does exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask think or imagine in our lives.  When we meditate on the Word we are literally allowing the Word to permeate our existence thus permeating our lives.

The word of God never fails and so when we continuously fill our heart, mind and spirit with it we have no choice but to yield the Word in our lives.  And since its filled with the promises of God i.e. the good news all that we will experience is good news.

Begin your meditation by following these steps:
1.     be in the moment
When you sit down to meditate do not think about anything else, what is coming up in the day or the things you have to do...just be thre ...you and God (reference Matthew 6:34)

2.    EAT!
Whatever scripture you decide to meditate on (Psalm 23 is a great place to start) read it with the intention of understanding God's intent of placing in the Bible.   The way you would eat delicious food tasting each flavor and enjoying every spice is the way to eat the scripture. (reference Psalm 34:8)

3.     infuse yourself
Infuse yourself into the scripture...substitute your name, apply the scripture directly to your current situation allow it to become living and breathing within your life (reference James 1:23-24)

Heres an example:
Psalm 23:1

...The Lord is my shepherd...shepherds lead the sheep that they are in charge of so therefore I am the sheep Jesus is my shepherd and I move by His leading...He will never lead me to wrong place...
I shall not want...well before I begin to think about my wants, my needs have to be met so that means that He has met all of my needs...bills, mortgage, physical healing, wounds from the past... and NOW my wants are being met...as well there is nothing that I lack because He has taken care of it all!

Meditating on the Word 15 minutes everyday will change you life the absolute better.  Because the Word is living, when you "eat" the word you are consuming it into your body, digesting it and retaining all of its goodness just like food.

What is in your life is a reflection of what is inside of you.  When you constantly put the word inside of you; you will constantly get the word out.

July 03, 2011

What is for me...is for ME!

The only portion of the Bible that will work for you is the portion that you believe.  Although God sees our needs and feels our pain He does not respond to that. [If He did respond to it there wouldn't be any pain in the world.  He does not respond to it due to disobedience of Adam and Eve].

What He does respond to is FAITH. Faith is a direct byproduct of believing.  What is believing?  Believing is having the upmost confidence that God can do what you desire for Him to do.
God is not haphazard.  He did not send Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and leave us the way we came to Him.  Being saved yet engulfed in our mess is not God’s best.

God sent Jesus to redeem us from the curse of the law; to give us emotional and physical health, give us a new life in Christ, give us the mind of Christ, as well as prosper us financially.  God does a full and total work; nothing missing nothing broken.  It may take us some time to get to the blessed life but it has been given to us waiting on our acceptance of it.  Ephesians 1:13-14 says “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…”

Your best life is ahead of you.  All you have to do is believe.  Your belief will lead you to develop your faith.  As your faith grows and you begin to confess or speak out loud what you desire, it will begin to manifest itself in your life.  But it all starts with BELIEVING.

“…and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power…”   Ephesians 1:19.

I shall live & not die...

Yesterday was my Mama's birthday (if you ask her 21st birthday).  After a 3 day Youth Conference in Houston, I decided to stay a couple of days just to celebrate.  We were able have a surprise birthday party at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen...and she had no idea!  She even ate the creme brulee with fresh fruit (she NEVER eats dessert) thats how excited she was.

I can honestly say that it was sooo worth the time and planning because there was a time when we weren't sure if she was going to have another birthday party.  When she was diagnosed with breast cancer and going through chemotherapy it was hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I really had to envision her being healthy and at her best anytime I saw her because if I would have focused on how she was at the time it would have allowed fear and doubt to take over me.

That season of my mom getting back to health made me really appreciate her and life in general.  My first book called You Can Win at Life took on a whole new meaning and my JesusBody DVD meant more to me than ever before.  Both the book and the DVD give the keys to living a purpose-filled life with meaning.

It hit home that no matter what happens in life or what tries to come against you in life ...you shall live and not die.  There are more who are for you (God, the innumerable angels) than those that are against you.  No matter what bad things could happen God will work ALL things out for our good.  Know that you will live and not die to shout out the great things that God has done for you.  And while you're living be a good steward over the family, friends, health, finances, gifts and talents that He has given you.

Others are waiting for you...

There's a saying that says "if you take care of the needs of others you will then take care of the needs of yourself." I truly believe this statement and know that it is the reason why I created the Jesus Body Workout and Healthy Lifestyle DVD.

With the number of fatalities increasing due to health related diseases, I wanted more than ever for those who are connected to me to avoid becoming a statistic.  You might say "I will only live once and while Im living I want to eat the things that I like even if they're not good for me".  I agree it is your life but there are  people who are counting on you. Other than your family, coworkers, spouse and children there are strangers that need you to share your God given testimony in order for them to move ahead in life.

Life is like a domino effect, when you help someone up that person is embolden to lift someone else up, then they lift up someone else and the cycle continues.  You are able to contribute to not only your wellbeing but someone else's.  That's the big picture.  And the reality is you can't help yourself or anyone else if you're sick, not feeling well and dependent on others to live.

Take matters into ur own hands. Jesus Body DVD is a full body workout as well as healthy lifestyle dvd that will get you healthy and eating well at the same time.

Tips & tricks for a new body...

How's your conversion to a healthy lifestyle going!?  If you need a little help keep reading...
March has been classified as National Nutrition Month.  To me nutrition is not only eating right but also getting in some much needed movement i.e. exercise!

Jumping rope is one of the easiest ways to get in a good workout ....right after my Jesus Body workout video of course :)

Cardio Workout
One of the easiest ways to do this is during an hour long television program have your jump rope nearby.  During the commercial breaks grab your jump rope and starting jumping.  Most hour long programs are setup to show the program for 30 minutes and show commercials for another 30 minutes.  Thus giving you a 30 minute cardio workout while watching your favorite show!

Benefits of jumping rope
* Improves your coordination and agility as well as increasing your endurance and strength
* Works almost every muscle in your body
* No need for a gym membership (which equals more money in your pocket!)
* Super inexpensive and traveler friendly
* Helps to burn fat quickly

Now that you have a good exercise to do, how about some delicious recipes....

What's your life purpose?

I always tell people that you do the world and yourself a disservice by not fulfilling the call of God on your life.  But most people don't know what their purpose is or how to find out what it is.  I've included an excerpt from my book Christ-confidence with an excerpt from the chapter titled "Grand Purpose"...let's find your purpose together.

God loves us so much that He will speak to someone about you in order for that person to let you know that He is concerned about you.  We go through a lot of things in life that we blame God for when the reality is if He had it His way we wouldn’t go through hardship at all (Revelation 21:3-5). The words that she spoke to me that day let me know that despite what I thought to be true; God still had something good planned for me regardless the pain I was feeling.  Number two, when I found out that God had a plan for my life I became emboldened to find out what that plan was in order to live the life I deserved.  There is nothing more invigorating than to find out that the life that you live has a meaning to it.  That you are more than just a combustion of atoms but rather you are made in the image and likeness of God to make the world a better place for its inhabitants. Your life will come alive with vibrancy and fulfillment as soon as you find out what your purpose is in life.  The question now is “how do I go about finding out my life’s purpose?”

Initially you will have to start out with a general purpose such as the one found in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  This particular purpose is used in combination with the skills and abilities that you are aware of.  It doesn't matter what skill you have they can all be used to do good works.  Skills such as photography, dance, writing, construction, educating, speaking, organizational skills or any other skill that you are aware of can advance the cause of Christ.  As you continue to work with the skills that you are aware of and continue to grow spiritually (by reading the Word) a more specific purpose will develop.

Personally, I’ve always enjoyed writing.  Since I was a teenager I kept a journal where I would write my thoughts, feelings and insights into life.  As an adult I am still writing but I now write to advance the cause of Christ.  Something as small as journaling now evolved into this book.  Circumstantial?  No.  Purpose being fulfilled?  Yes.

It is very easy to become anxious about finding out your personal purpose in life.  Many times God will have you use the skills you are aware of to live out your general purpose with vigor and faithfulness before He will reveal your personal purpose.  Yet you have the ability to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide you into discovering your personal purpose.  When you do this, He will affirm it to you and lead you into intricate truths about your purpose.  John 16:13 says, “…the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
There are some clues that you can use in order to find and define your purpose.
¨    What skills and abilities do you think that the world can most benefit from you?
¨    Are there any painful memories or experiences that you have learned from and can educate others about?
¨    What upsets you the most about life/the world?
¨    Who do you believe you are called to reach?  Do you have favor with a certain group of people (i.e. men, children, young adults, age group, ethnicities, etc.)?
¨    Even if you did not receive a paycheck for doing your purpose, would you still do it?
¨    Even if you never received a round of applause or recognition, would you still do it?

Based on the answers to the above listed questions, if you think that you alone will not be able to carry out your purpose because it’s too big or you don’t have the resources; then you are on target! If you view your purpose as being too big for you that means it’s just the right size for God.  The best part is that God will take what you think is too big to a higher level than what you are even thinking about or imagining (Ephesians 3:20).
